Indian grape exporters realized some serious improvements in the quantities of residues of plant protection agents on fresh grape exports. Under the guidance of Apeda, a software package controls the readying of export shipments. In a short presentation, APEDA director S. Dave and 4 delegation members explained how this was achieved.

APEDA is a national organisation which supports the Indian agricultural export activities in different areas of expertise. A huge demand from the grape industry for improved management of production and export procedures got all stakeholders together to provide whatever was necessary to maintain their major market: the EU.

APEDA director S. Dave recalled how the European market responded heavily on the findings of pesticides in 2003. This experience ultimatly proved to be a blessing, as it pointed out all the fields where India had to learn.
