This year, Olympic Fruit celebrates its 25th anniversary. A special milestone we are very proud of.
The story of Olympic Fruit begins with our founder, Thijs van den Heuvel.
In the early 1980s, while working with Hagé International, Thijs got in his car and drove to Greece to explore opportunities on the ground. By visiting growers and packhouses, walking the fields, discovering products, and building lasting relationships, the very first foundations were laid.
One of the key early partnerships was with grower Olympic Fruit Balakanakis, followed by close collaboration with several other growers along the way. These early relationships shaped the way we work and formed the basis of the business that would later become Olympic Fruit.
Back then, the journey started with grapes, cherries, citrus, and the wider range of products Greece had to offer at the time. Together, these products marked the very first steps of our product portfolio.
